Located about 35 miles southwest of Minneapolis is Waconia, a town that has made quite a name for itself in the wine industry. Following suit is the spirits industry, beginning with J. Carver. Pay a visit to the distillery for a taste of the Bourbon Whiskey—try it neat—or the Apple Brandy. The cocktail lounge pours all of J. Carver’s other spirits, including vodka, several types of gin and variations of Grappa, a grape spirit made in collaboration with nearby wineries. Don’t forget to reserve a spot for the 60-minute distillery tour on Fridays and Saturdays.
