There are several facilities on the university’s campus perfect for sporting events. TCF Bank Stadium, the first LEED-certified football facility in the country at both the collegiate and professional level, seats almost 60,000 and features a range of meeting and event spaces. The University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center was built to meet Olympic standards so it could welcome a wide variety of swimming and diving events. Home to Gopher women’s and men’s basketball, Williams Arena has a capacity of more than 14,000, and the adjacent Sports Pavilion serves as the venue for men’s and women’s gymnastics and volleyball, as well as wrestling, and can seat up to 5,840 spectators. Nearby Mariucci Arena, which recently began major renovations, is a state-of-the-art facility that hosts Gopher men’s hockey and seats 10,000, including many luxury box seats and private reception areas. There’s also a second sheet of ice next door at the 3,400-seat Ridder Arena, home of the Gopher women’s hockey team.
