Not everyone is drawn to the pomp and circumstance of the traditional New Year’s Eve celebration. And that’s okay! The Twin Cities have plenty of opportunities to celebrate the holiday in new and exciting ways.

Brave New Workshop New Year’s Eve Improvaganza
Ring in the new year with plenty of laughs at Brave New Workshop located in downtown Minneapolis. Watch the cast at this one-of-a-kind theater perform an hour-long improv show to usher in 2017.
$15 per person

New Year’s Dance Party
Northeast Minneapolis’ favorite subterranean club is hosting a New Year’s Eve dance party with DJ Jimmy TwoTimes. Tickets will be available at the door, but you’re best bet is purchasing them ahead of time.

New Year’s Eve Disco
Head to Constantine in downtown Minneapolis for a ’70s-inspired disco dance party. The cocktail lounge is located in the lower level of The Hotel Ivy and continues to impress visitors with its menu of libations. Dress up in your flare jeans and tassle vest and enjoy the live DJ spinning tunes from the decade. Your ticket includes one complimentary cocktail, and there will be a champagne toast at midnight.

New Year’s Eve at Buck Hill
Spend the last few hours of 2016 and the first few minutes of 2017 on the slopes at Buck Hill. This ski and snowboard area is located south of Minneapolis-St. Paul in Burnsville. Purchase a late night ski pass to enjoy the snow until midnight, check out Gabe & Gaylord’s Fun Ski Race, watch a magic show and enjoy live music. Plus, for guests over 21 cocktails will be served at Black Diamond Restaurant, the park’s onsite Mexican and American eatery, until 1 a.m. It all culminates in a huge fireworks show at midnight to celebrate the new year in style.
