Shake those hips, prepare your lotus hands and gets those knees up at Bollywood Dance Scene, where everyone is welcome! You don’t need a membership to dance in these weekly classes or any of their other social events. No matter what your reasons are for being in the Twin Cities, you can always stop by the dance studio and join in on their short choreography lessons to popular Indian and Bollywood movies and songs. Harmonize and laugh with fellow dancers of all skill levels, every Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m at the Tapestry Folkdance Center in Minneapolis.
Besides their weekly lessons, the organization hosts other social events, like their Big Bollywood Cook-off on July 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Start with a free dance lesson at 6:30 p.m. to get your appetite going, then move on to sampling a few vegetarian appetizers and desserts while socializing with the community.
Dancing at this studio is energetic, aerobic and fun. If you’re in the Twin Cities for a while, you could also have the opportunity to show your work at their art festivals, join a performing dance troupe or even audition to be in Bollywood Dance Scene’s annual Minnesota Fringe Bollywood Dramedy.
Bollywood Dance Scene is more than just dancing to the best Bollywood movies around; it’s also about cultural diversity, celebrating South Asian cultures and building community through knowledge and understanding. Dance and enjoy yourself all year round with Bollywood Dance Scene.
Dates for new events and social gathering are posted on their Facebook page and more information about the dance coordinators, past events, classes and more can be found on their website.
