Chanhassen’s namesake comes from the Dakota word for “sugar maple tree,” and this peaceful suburb gives you a taste of the sweet life. Chanhassen is surrounded by lakes—there are 12 lakes and over 70 miles of trails within city limits. The Chanhassen Library is a family favorite, and the city center’s avid outdoor green space hosts the Chanhassen Farmers’ Market every summer. And even though this neighborhood is southwest of the heart of the Twin Cities, a vibrant theater experience is easy to find at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, the largest professional dinner theater in the United States. Homes in the area range in size and price, making Chanhassen a great town for families. Not to mention, Chanhassen was ranked the seventh best small town in the United States by Money magazine in 2015, and of course, there’s Paisley Park—now a museum devoted to Minnesota’s most beloved Prince. His home and recording studios are now a marquee tourist attraction in his hometown of Chanhassen.
