FORT SNELLING STATE PARK

This park, home to the former military base, is not just for history buffs.

It’s not just a history buff haven. Fort Snelling State Park is home to extensive hiking, bike and cross-country ski trails that connect with Minnehaha Falls Regional Park and the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Primarily located on the Minnesota River floodplain, the park hosts large cottonwood, silver maple, ash and willow trees that attract hundreds of birds each year.
