WATER PARK OF AMERICA
This aquatic wonderland features the tallest indoor water slide in the country and more than 24 thrilling rides.
Located in the bustling southern suburb of Bloomington—home to Mall of America—is Water Park of America. Although some folks think it is connected to the MOA®, it’s not—although a quick two-minute shuttle will drop you at the Mall's doors. This megawaterpark is 70,000 square feet of aquatic wonderland, featuring the tallest indoor water slide in the country and more than 24 thrilling rides. It also has a 5,800-square-foot arcade, leisure pools, hot tub, FlowRider surf simulator (with lessons offered) and a lazy river. Recently opened attractions are a 4D Immersive Theater and a Batman Laser Challenge course. Smaller indoor water parks include the Venetian Hotel in Maple Grove and the Shoreview Community Center.
If you are visiting in winter, splurge and pay the extra underground heating parking fee. Otherwise if you plan to enjoy the park on the final day of your visit and have no room to return to, you will emerge into the cold quite a bit colder. Also, when you check in to the park, be sure to pay the extra few bucks for a locker. They are plenty big to accommodate a family of four’s belongings.
