WALKER ART CENTER
Considered one of the nation’s best contemporary art museums, the Walker Art Center boasts an impressive collection of art and cultural events.
From the stunning outdoor collection and onsite gourmet dining, to the state-of-the-art cinema and theater, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis offers an all-encompassing cultural experience. Featuring a number of cutting edge exhibitions alongside a vast permanent collection of modern pieces crafted from both two- and three-dimensional media, the museum is a contemporary art hub. Said to be “possibly the best contemporary art museum in the U.S.” by Newsweek and considered one of the nation’s “big five” museums for modern art, the Walker’s collection focuses on media and performing and visual arts, showcasing more than 11,000 works.
On warm summer and breezy fall days, head to the museum’s adjacent Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, where larger figures such as Spoonbridge and Cherry and Standing Glass Fish have garnered national attention. It is currently under construction and is set to reopen June 2017. The onsite restaurant, Walker Cafe & Bar, serves up soups, salads, sandwiches and baked goods from the locally famous Patisserie 46.
