Our mission is to ensure all students envision and pursue their highest aspirations while serving the greater good. Minnetonka is nationally and internationally recognized for outstanding student achievement and expanding opportunities for children. Home to the largest language immersion program in Minnesota, Minnetonka offers both Spanish and Chinese immersion options K-12.

Minnetonka High School is an International Baccalaureate Diploma High School and has repeatedly been named to the College Board’s AP Honor Roll for expanding Advanced Placement opportunities for all students; 79% of Minnetonka graduates have enrolled in AP or IB courses. Minnetonka offers three advanced professional studies programs that provide real-world professional experiences: MinnetonkaResearch.org, TonkaVANTAGE.com and Project Lead the Way (engineering). Many of Minnetonka's high-quality courses are also available online through TonkaOnline.org, which is NCAA-approved and open to all high school students in Minnesota. The district has also earned recognition for Fine Arts (Best Communities for Music Education) and using technology as an accelerator of learning (Apple Distinguished Education Award).

Minnetonka students excel in academics, the arts, athletics and activities.  When students enter in kindergarten, they mirror national averages in reading and math. However, over the next six years a transformation occurs. By the end of fifth grade, the average Minnetonka student performs at the 11th grade level in reading and math compared to national norms. Learning continues to thrive through middle and high school. By age 15, the average Minnetonka student tops international rankings – surpassing Singapore, Finland and China—on the international assessments in reading and science.
